Munchie was 141 plus 6 today (started day with 55 +11) but now is up to +600. She ate for me at +6 today but now doesn't want any more food. She seems to bounce a lot and not sure how to help her get regulated. She's 17 1/2 and may be harder in her situation. Anyone else have older cat with similar situation and advice on what might help. Thanks. Thinking I should still give her regular dose of 1.25 tonight even if doesn't eat since she's so high. If you disagree, please let me know (but shot due w/I 1/2 hour). Just wondering too if I need to do another reduction tomorrow because looking at her chart she had some lower numbers even on 1 low unit. My vet bouncing is worse than 200's and 300's.

I think you're OK to shoot.

It's hard to know with older cats. I've seen them have low numbers more than high. At least with humans, how medications are metabolized changes with age. Both young children and the elderly require a lighter touch when it comes to medication because of how their bodies are developing or changing.

Thanks, Sienne, for your replies and help! I gave Munchie her 1.25. Will see how she does tonight and tomorrow. If she's having Somogyi Rebound (seems that she is) then could mean she needs to go back to 1u from her current 1.25?

no advice for you - but usually higher numbers mean to stay the course or increase the dose. we don't decrease doses for high numbers that i have ever seen - maybe someone else can comment on that. i haven't seen that advice ever given.

Hi Elizabeth: I don't think I've been in your condo yet to welcome you and Munchie. Wow...17-1/2...that's great. Poor girl to get FD at that age.

I hope she comes down for you nice and slow and starts to even out those extremes. Bring on the questions!!
