Mucus in the stool - straining - help

[Buff-puff]

Buffy is straining to go but nothing is happening except some mucus. After straining, she passed a little mucus with blood. Any suggestions please?

I am not an expert, but if it were my cat, I would take her to the vet to be checked out. It could be constipation or some type of blockage. Did you change her food or medications recently? Here is a link to read more:

I watch Buffy so closely that I notice everything and I basically panic when I notice her doing something different. So after I posted here, I called and the vet said bring her in, that she may need an enema. But on exam he didn't feel any obstruction at all.

He ended up thinking that maybe the frequent trips to the litter box to strain was due to the bout of mucousy diarrhea she had, that it had probably irritated her and made her feel like she had to go.

He wanted to give her an antibiotic shot and Clavamox, but I refused because she had a very bad reaction to something they gave her last year about this same time. She ended up with diarrhea that lasted for more than 2 months, lost weight, and ended up with $3000 in vet bills running every test they could think of but finding nothing.

Anyway, I asked the vet if I could do fluids and will give those daily -- along with a bland diet for while, and FortiFlora.

I'm glad it was not a blockage! Better safe than sorry! I hope Buffy is feeling better soon!
