Scraps left with many hearts in tow (posted on DCIN)

January 17, 2013--From Scraps' Mom--

I took Scraps home from the hospital last night with a plethora of medications. We went to my dad's house, where Scraps chased one last toy mouse, was excited to look out the window and the neighborhood, and purred in the laps of people who loved him. He slept in bed with me last night.

This morning when we woke up, Scraps' decline was so fast and dramatic I knew it was time to help him take off his cat suit. He passed peacefully with the help of a vet this morning at approximately 11am.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your kind, selfless, anonymous donations. Many of you never met Scraps, but found it in your heart to donate to his cause. He was the most angelic, considerate animal I have ever met. Constantly seeking attention and affection. He was always patient and kind. Let me give him his daily insulin shots and test his blood sugar constantly with no complaints.

My heart is broken, but I have no regrets about the small fortune I spent over the last week to give him his last fighting chance. I didn't want to look back and think we could have done more. We did all of the ultrasounds and tests and overnight stays we could. At the end, both he and I were happy to have one last peaceful night together.

Again, thank you for your emotional and monetary support. It is so good to know how loved Mr. Scraps was.

I am so sorry to hear this. Fly free, sweet kitty. Molly,you were an angel on earth to Mr. Scraps and your love for him really shines through your eulogy. I am so thankful that he had you to share part of his life with.
 
Molly, there are so many tears falling for you, for Mr. Scraps and all those who followed his DCIN blog. We all celebrated when he gained weight and was looking so much better and were overjoyed when you adopted him........Mr. Scraps was home!

My heart goes out to you and you have my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Mr. Scraps. I am so glad you did bring him home last night and he had a night spent with you and those who loved him. Not much consolation in looking back but, because of you, he was given a life full of love short though that life was. He left in the arms of love and to him the most important thing is he was with you, not alone in a cage.

He was loved and in the hearts of so many. ...he touched all of us wings_cat
 
Molly, I am so sorry. Mr. Scraps was blessed to have you for his mom. Thank you for rescuing this extra sweet guy and giving him the love and care he needed. ((((((((((MOLLY))))))))))
