Mr. Kitty been diabetic since 2018 and has been doing well considering his age. We stopped testing him as much as we used to because he gets really grumpy and because we’re not trying for remission at this point in his life. I had our pet sitter come to the house on Saturday to administer his pm shot for the first time since 2019 and all went well. His Sunday morning amps was high, which was unusual, but we thought it could be stress related from having a sitter. Sunday he was his usual sassy demanding self but yesterday he didn't run towards his midday snack, tuna treat or dinner (not even gravy good). He wouldn’t eat from 11:30am EDT until today at 8am so I am taking him this afternoon for blood work, urine panel and subQ fluids. I have a gut feeling his kidneys are starting to shut down based on what I’ve been reading on the CKD website: drinking more water, poor looking coat, no appetite, vomiting, no appetite, struggling to come down the steps and hiding in his fathers office. I’m a little overwhelmed and wanted to ask if there was anything additional I should ask my vet to do today? Thanks for your support.

Could be many things. I just had two of mine not not eat and a third vomit and then not eat next meal. These were separated by a few days. All is well now. It was not related by food. Maybe some "bug" going around? I went to vet/ER for one since it went persisted for a days. but workup showed nothing. Praying for Mr Kitty.,

Thank you for your prayers! He’s such a good boy and I want him to be well.

Just came back from the doctor where Mr. Kitty was given fluids, cerenia, and an antibiotic shot. Blood work looks normal except for a few tests that were low that I’m currently researching - seems like anemia and or iron deficiency.

Low score:
HCT 33%
MCV 43.2%
MCH 17.3%
EOS .03%

high score:
RDW 19.1%
PLT 915
BUN is 26mg which is on the higher side

Those numbers might be due to dehydration.
I do not think so especially for the HCT. If cat was more hydrated the HCT would be lower. An HCT of 33% is not bad at all. I looked up recent BW for my Boots and it lists "normal" HCT as between 28.2 and 52.7%.Overall I see nothing concerning.
A low number of eosinophils in the blood (eosinopenia) can occur with Cushing syndrome, bloodstream infections (sepsis), and treatment with corticosteroids. However, a low number of eosinophils does not usually cause problems because other parts of the immune system compensate adequately.
