Hi everyone,

Hello from the falls! Mottyl has been OTJ since August 14. She's been doing great - the low-carb food plus extra exercise has got her down to a better weight, and she's very cuddly these days, especially since the cold weather really hit. ;-) I've been testing her every couple weeks and she's been in a very nice 60-70 range each time.

BUT today I came home to find she had peed on my bed, for the first time in a very long time, like since way before her diagnosis in June. That seemed weird, since she's been otherwise fine, so I checked her BG and it was a bit elevated - 79.

Everything else has been normal. Her appetite may have decreased a bit, but she's also getting less exercise these days now that there's snow on the ground and she doesn't get to frolic in the yard. She's not drinking extra as far as I can tell, and litterbox is regular (not a flood like when she was first diagnosed).

Anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on? She clearly wants to draw my attention to something, but I'm not sure what.

That BG is perfectly normal and could even be attributed to meter error on the small difference showing.

Is there anything else going on in Mottyl's life? Different litter or litter box? New pets or people in the home or have any left? Rearrange the furniture or where her food or litterbox went? Is there any strange animals hanging around outside? Could be something as simple as using a new fabric softener she doesn't like @-) I'd assess any changes in her life and decide if there might be something that is setting her off, and if not it might be time for a vet visit.

Relapse of symptoms, regardless of glucose level, generally means something isn't quite right, often an infection. I'd take her in to your vet to rule out a urinary tract infection and/or constipation.

Also, see my signature link Secondary Monitoring Tools for additional assessments you can make to evaluate her health.
