Morris earned his wings today

I know I haven't been around that much lately, but I wanted to let my LL friends know that Morris earned his wings today.

He seemed fine on Monday, but by Monday evening something seemed wrong. I held his insulin that night. Tuesday morning, he had not touched his food at all - I thought he might be having another pancreatitis flare. I called the vet & made arrangements to pick up the usual bupe, pepcid, & fluids on my way home from work. This morning, my daughter (who was being his 'doctor') notified me that he did not seem to be doing well - he was looking like he had just given up. I called the vet again & made arrangements for him to go in this afternoon. As they did not have any appointment openings, they wanted me to drop him off so that 1 of the docs could see him in between their other patients. They called me & things sounded hopeful - he was too dehydrated for SQ fluids, so they wanted to give him IV fluids and his temp was 4 degrees lower than usual, so they wanted to warm him up, and they wanted to do some labwork. I agreed to this treatment plan. They wanted me to bring his meds to the office after work & get an update. About 15mins before I got to the office, he started taking a turn for the worse. I was able to comfort him & say my goodbyes. I was able to continue petting him while they put him to sleep. I then brought him home so that he can be buried outside with my daughters 2 hamsters.

I want to thank everyone here for all of the love, support, and wonderful knowledge that you have shared with Morris & I these past 2.5 years.

You were such a great bean for him and he loved you dearly..
You did get to be with him to say goodbye and that is so important..

I am so sorry to hear about Morris. He declined so quickly, but at least you know that he did not have to linger in pain and suffering. You were with him when he passed, and that must be a comfort to you. Morris will always be with you, in your heart and in your happy memories. Fly free, sweet Morris, on your beautiful new golden wings, and land softly at the Bridge, where you will be welcomed by all of our GAs. You are much loved.

I never had the pleasure of meeting you or Morris, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your news, and wish Morris a soft landing… he will meet lots of kitties when he arrives, some named Mandy, Cindy, Carly, Ginger, so I hope he looks for them to play with.

Gwen - I am so sorry for your loss of Morris. I am glad that you were able to be with him when he passed - there is no finer gift that you could have given him. I hope all your memories of Morris will be of comfort to you and your family. Fly free sweet Morris!

Glad you were able to be there to say good bye and help him transition.

(((((((((Gwen))))))))) I am so sorry. I am glad you were with Morris and comfort him while he crossed. I will light a candle for him today. Morris was meant to be in your life and he takes all the love you showered on him with him. I know he is with you in spirit always. Sending you big hugs.
 
Gwen, I am so very sorry for your loss. The pain seems unbearable right now, but please know that in time, your heart will begin to heal. Then your sweet memories will comfort you. 'Til then, I'll pray for you.

Sorry to hear about Morris. I'm glad you were able to pet him and be with him as he went to the bridge. Even though we know it's the right thing to do, it's never easy. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
