I'm running a bg curve on Morky tonight to try and get his numbers down. Despite being moved to a wet only diet, he's not made any massive improvements with his numbers, so if anyone's available to keep an eye out on us to possibly adjust dosing etc. Currently on 1 can of Hill DM wet food a day with 2 units of Canninsulin. The spreadsheet is in my sig. Many thanks!

Margaret and Morky

pmps: 24.9 (448.2)
+2: 24.6 (442.8)
+4: 20.7 (372.6) Ketone test also done, results: Negative!
+6: 15.1 (271.8)

amps: 14.8 (266.4)
+2: 22.2 (399.6)
+4 16.4 (295.2)
+6: 11 (198)
+8: 18.0 (324)
+10: 23.5 (423)

I'm glad he's now on a all wet diet.

I hope you can convince your vet to give you Lantus or Levemir. It's a really good insulin for cats.
Plus, there are a lot more people on this board using it, so more advise or suggestions for you would be available from those experienced users of the L insulins.
I'm just saying people are more comfortable giving help and suggestions when they know the insulin better.

Good luck with the curve, tonight.

Yup, he's been on all wet for over a week now (minus a tbs of dry I gave him because he was crying incessently about being hungry, numbers shot up. lesson learned!) He's walking much better and seems to be feeling okay, but just can't shake those numbers! I'll need to go to the vet soon to get more syringes and discuss other insulins, it's just a bit tricky here, as using people medicines in animals needs to go through a particular process called cascade here to be approved, so definitely gotta make a good go of the canninsulin for the time being, but never hurts to bring it up!

Just would love to see the little guy get out of the 20's so much, poor thing! Gonna stay up as late as I can, try to get a good curve outta him!

Many thanks!

Did you get the ketone test strips? I use a small (very small) plastic cup to reach under J.D.'s tail while he's going. Some people use something like a soup ladle. I'm glad he's walking better. He lucked out when he got you to be his mommy ;-)

I did, I got the ketone strips earlier this week, just been struggling to get a test out of him, as he likes to get very up close and personal to the litter. but just dumped the litter (seriously going through litter like it's free round here!) at dinner time and decided to see if he would do a pee in there without litter, and like a pro, he did! So ketone test complete (and he now has litter :D) and negative to boot!

On a humourous note, ment to send a text to my partner about my urine related victory, instead sent it to a friend, so my cover as a hip 20 something just got blown for border line cat lady excited that there is testable sample of pee in the box! hahaha!

And thank you Dyana! I have been so fortunate with the folks on this board, even just checking in on us and sending support our way, it's reassuring very helpful. And he's a good boy, happy to be giving him the home he deserves at last :)

His new avatar looks like he is a very good boy. You two are a good match. I'm so glad you have him, and I bet he's starting to think he's glad he has you, too :-D

YAY on the Negative Ketone Test!!! That's always important.

I think my neighbors think I'm a crazy cat person and I only have two kitties. It's just I take them on walks  when I can..

Thank you! Needed to get a pic of him out of the shelter, lol! The ketone test was a big relief.

I love that you walk your cats! When I put a harness on my girl cat, she suddenly goes limp like all her bones suddenly broke and she refuses to do anything! Drama queen!
