About this Max Cat canned food, both duck and chicken......each time Martha eats it, her bg shoots up over 200. What is the deal if it's so low in carbs? Can anyone explain it? She really loves this food but I'm afraid to feed it to her.

You are posting the same question repeatedly. Please don't do that.
Wait for someone to respond to the one post.

Please remember cats are individuals and may react differently from other cats or at different times because numerous factors go into regulating glucose levels.

And if something isn't working, don't keep doing it. Try something else.

I am surely not aware of posting the same question repeatedly. If I did, it's probably because a message kept popping up telling me to re-submit my post. Which I did.
I'm sorry I offended you. It has been suggested to me on other lists that it's possible the company's advertising for this particular food is in error. If that is the case, others need to know about it.
I do need answers for my Martha but it seems like I'm always doing the wrong thing on this list. I don't know where else to go for DM help.

I think her response was in regards to the fact that you already asked this question in your last post (prior to the two identical, presumably double-posted ones -this one and a copy)
And that the question was essentially answered in that post. There are no hard fast facts about this simply because what works for some cats does not work for others, so you basically have to work with finding out what works for YOUR cat. If the max cat gives your kitty high bg, don't use it *shrug*

Exactly what Barb said. And our board software has been a bit funky lately, so maybe that caused the double posting. You can check if this has happened by clicking on your user name, then listing all your posts. If no one has responded to your duplicate post, you can delete it.

The can labels state minimum and maximum levels of protein and fat. This reflects the fact that the company will shift what goes into a batch based on what is going to be most profitable. In other words, it is not exactly the same each time, unlike human food. So the values in the chart Dr Pierson has on Cat Info are from 1 batch and since batches change in composition, so will the percentage of calories from protein, fat, and carbohydrate. Some companies are more consistent than other companies. Perhaps you got a batch where the mix was different enough that it affected the glucose levels.

Thank you, BJM. That was the kind of response I needed. I did not know about batches changing.
