Well I think the insulin was finally going toasty... cause I had all these great numbers and NO 200s for quite some time and all of a sudden today and last night we were seeing high 100's and 200's. So today I broke out the new bottle for his PM dose.
We'll see how it goes.
:)

Re: Moo 5/6 PMPS 240, +2-102

Well, switching the insulin out may have done the trick!
Holy fast drop Batman!!!
240 to 102 in just 2 hrs!
The bad part is I am heading out now for a few hours.
Just fed him a bit more LC
Will test again in 30 at +2.5 before I head out

Is insulin more 'potent' when first opened?

Re: Moo 5/6 PMPS 240, +2-102

I'd get a +2.5. That's a big drop. How long are you going to be out? This looks like an active cycle.

How old was your Lantus?

Re: Moo 5/6 PMPS 240, +2-102, +2.5-82

Well 2.5 and another 20 point drop. We're at 82.
My plans just got cancelled. I have to run out soon though for maybe an hour or so to the library and get some food...
The 82 was after I fed some LC at +2 also!

Re: Moo 5/6 PMPS 240, +2-102, +2.5-82

Sienne,
Is a newer bottle stronger?
Or was the old one just losing its juice?
Ive had this new bottle about a month, but he kept going low so I kept the new one unopened until needed but I figured w/ these 200's popping up.... I'd try it.

Re: Moo 5/6 PMPS 240, +2-102, +2.5-82

How's your eyesight?
Glad you were able to cancel and do shorter run offs....

I was watching for your first test after that pmps.

Re: Moo 5/6 PMPS 240, +2-102, +2.5-82

The insulin "shouldn't" go toasty after a month but you never know how it was handled before you bought it.

If you need to run out for food, etc., I'd give Moo some HC and do your best to get back as soon as you can.

Re: Moo 5/6 PMPS 240, +2-102, +2.5-82

Oh no. I was still on his original insulin from dec. I just opened the new bottle tonight that I bought a month ago because I thought the dec one might be toasty giving the high numbers.

Hi,
I was referring to the eyesight for the dose you gave. There are quite a few of us who have difficulties with our vision .

But I see you were on a nice even line for your dose today so nevermind.... my bad.
insulin that's over 4+ months old is definitely the likely reason.

Yay for Moo in the green....

Ran out and back in for the night.
+3.5-84
The low carb kept him right there...
we;ll see how the rest of the night goes!

Probably.
But it's ok. I actually didn't cancel. My friend cancelled on me.
Maybe it was a sign.
Had I went, he'd probably dropped lower.
We'll see. About to do a 4.5 check.

Still heading up +4.5-90

Guess that LC kicked him up.
Wonder how low he woulda gone had I been home and not given the LC

Hm, maybe tomorrow night.
