Monty was admitted to hospital yesterday. I took him into my local clinic yesterday morning because he was dehydrated for hydro-therapy and about an hour before I picked him up they phoned to ask my permission to refer him for emergency care (since he refused all food while in clinic).
He was due to visit the same hospital regardless on the 23rd for a follow up on the mass found near his pancreas. An internal medicine specialised called me this morning to give a status update and explain the plan of action.
Update on Monty:
Plan for today:

Update on Monty:
- Quiet, but responsive
- After being given pain meds overnight, does not appear to be in pain when handled
- Voluntarily ate a small amount of his food
Plan for today:
- Bloods taken for two tests. First fast test shows elevated protein (he has CKD) and low red blood cell count
- Second slower test results pending
- Planned to ultrasound mass at some point today to learn more about it
- Following ultrasound they may use a needle to take a sample of the mass for testing
- For now treating as though it's severe pancreatitis until they learn more
- A student vet asked if I'd volunteeer Monty into a study that's looking at heart health in cats with low red blood cell count. I consented to allow her to listen to his heart once per day in exchange he gets a free heart scan.
