i bought these because everyone seemed to think they were the best and they certainly aren’t the cheapest. My experience has been less than stellar. 2 things. I find It hard to move the plunger to an exact point while loading the syringe. Tough to get those small increments as if the plunger is sticking. It has also been my practice to shoot into my hand AFTER the shot to make sure nothing was left in the needle (just for info not to give more ) I find almost always the monoject makes my hand slightly wet where as the care point U40 needle never did. Yes I leave the needle in place for a few seconds after the shot. Anyone else have this experience?
 
That's very strange. After our vet gave us the elephant size official Caninsulin syringes it was an accident that I found some 30gauge 1/3ml Monojects and I blabber about them all the time. I still have almost 300 left over from Noah. Over 5 years and 2 cats I've never once had a bad seal or a sticking plunger.
The date of manufacture should be on the box. You could always contact the manufacturer with the lot number but... I've spent the last two weeks attempting to speak English with a few corporations I'm unhappy with.
"Press 9 to repeat the menu, bang your head on the wall if you'd like to leave a message, press 3√31 to speak to the CEO". I can hear someone laughing in the background when I do this.
Are you really shooting into your hand afterwards? Not a good idea, just give a little quirt into the air.
I have to ask this condescending question. You're not prefilling or reusing your syringes right? Sorry, I won't know unless I ask.
 
I have never had an issue with even one of my Monojects. I love them. I push the plunger up and down a few times before pulling the dose. When I am closing in on the correct dose, I twist it rather than pushing. By twisting, I can hit a very specific dose.

I push the plunger all the way in when giving the shot, as far as it goes. So, there is no pushing to do when I pull it out, nothing to shoot onto my hand or elsewhere.
 
Lol. You made me laugh. No I would never re use a needle nor do I pre fill. when I say shooting into my hand. I mean an air shot with my hand in front. Lmfao. All that said. Full shot in... plunger all the way and even leave it inserted for a few seconds.. I can almost see a tiny little drop on the end when I pull it out. Today I pulled back and pushed “empty” needle while still inserted and finally got air only ON my hand (not in) ... still laughing sorry

@FurBabiesMama i do push all the way. The air shot test I do after means I pull the needle back again to check against my hand that full shot was administered..... paranoid ... yes !! Lol but I will try your twisting technique to load. Thanks for the info
 
Lisa, I think after awhile, we all kind of find our favorite brands of things around here. It's okay to not like those; you can just try something different next time. I think I've tried four or five brands at this point, and I've settled on the cheapy relion syringes as my favorites. Just like every cat is different, all of us beans are different too!

Well thank you for that. I saw your "joined" date and from there had to assume the worst. You wouldn't be the first person here who was either abandoned by their vet, told not to test at home or sent home with a post-it note of instructions. I wasn't being nasty, there's a whole sub culture of people looking for holistic alternatives to insulin, magic crystals and the expectation that your cat will go into remission within weeks of using prescription food. We don't make fun of people or shame them, everyone helps in their own way.
And the over charging vets we see. "Prescription" food, no prescription necessary. "I'm having a bad day, could I get some Ketamine with that? I wrote my own prescription" :smuggrin:
I break a few rules myself. My wife and I have the same family doctor who knows I'm handy with a syringe. To save our idiot healthcare system money I give her (wife, not the doctor) B12 shots at home. Don't tell anyone.;)
 
All good. Any and all questions and advice are welcomed... I just laughed my butt of that you thought I was injecting my hand!! Btw... all those things you mentioned are true. Clueless vet, prescription food which I dumped month 1 after what I learned here. The food she’s on now is actually more expensive but zero carbs. Talked to my vet last week for first time in a while and he about dropped dead when he saw my SS. Thabks to this group she is doing so much better it’s amazing. Still not regulated but getting there.
