Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and My baby's name is Momo. She was diagnosed this May 7 of Diabetes. She stayed in her vet for 4 days (her vet's advice) to be stabilized.
They started her with ProZinc, but I noticed that after few hours of insulin (she started to have a very fast heart beat). When I counted, it was like 170/minute. But, before the insulin, her heart beat was about 40-45/minute. I brought her to another vet, as an ER to find out what was wrong with her. They took an x-ray, and everything is ok. Her original vet, also took an x ray and did not find anything.
On Tuesday, May 26, I brought her back to her original vet, and again discussed about her fast heart rate. She cannot find anything, but she was thinking it might be her previous condition. She had pyothorax (fluid in the pus), in January of this year. We did not know how she got it (she is an indoor only). Thank God she survived, and all her x rays- her lung is clear and no more fluid as of the last x ray (May 23, 2020).
I asked her Vet if we can switch to Lantus, and might help eliminate her fast heart beat. She started 1u @ night, May 26, up to just now. And this morning, her heart beat was about 45, but after couple of hours of injecting her the lantus, it is shallow and fast again. By the way, I stopped her dry foods completely and she is only at DM wet can food by Purina.
I just called her vet, and we are looking to get a specialist. Is there anyone here that can give me at least an advice on what is maybe going on with her? Her Bg last nigh, May 27, I tested before her evening insulin is 448, but she just ate. It is high. She has no ketones, but she took antibiotic for UTI. I just tested her BG just now before her 1u of Lantus, it is 532, but she just ate. She is playing very well, very active, eating well, just her breathing is really fast.
Is anyone having same situation like this? Is it the effect of insulin?
Thank you. I appreciate any help, please. Thanks again
