Mocha's really trying to chew down or off her back nails, if that makes sense .. I feel so bad for her cause she is missing a lot of teeth and has a hard time gripping onto them to get them off .. We do cut them on a regular basis, but not sure what more we could do for her? I was wondering if anyone else has a cat with few teeth and have a hard time shedding off their back nails .. Plus, the sounds she makes while trying to get them off can really roll my stomach around  Don't really want to take her to the vet for each nail trimming since we can do them at home without a problem, and the vet charges 15.00 each time ..

"Whereisit" has her teeth but I understand about the sound rolling your stomach  She's the one that does it the most and is the loudest when doing it too. No way of stopping it, they just like doing it.

Oh do I understand what you mean about the sound, Max has all his teeth but for some reason he has decided that while laying on mom's head in the middle of the night is the perfect time to groom his back claws. And like you I keep all the cats' nails trimmed so I figure it is just something he likes to do. I just wish he would pick some other time and place than on top of my head in the middle of the night.

Sometimes stuff gets trapped in or around the claws; the chewing may be to remove debris which is irritating.

Well, at least you all understand the noise I'm talking about  She REALLY get's into it, snorting and slurping ... *shiver* At least I know other cats are doing this ... BJM, we try to keep a careful eye on her claws because she is so fascinated with them .. we wanted to make sure she didn't have anything stuck in them ... Peter says she is just cleaning out her toe jam ...
