rb_icon This morning I said goodbye to Mitten. She arrived in my home seven years, six months and fourteen days ago from Chicago. She was transported my Imom. I remember since it was the day after Christmas. She was my first adopted diabetic kitty.
It was a rocky beginning since at first she would not eat much and I could not test her since she would not allow it. After she started eating I gave her her standard five units of U insulin. An hour or so later she was lethargic and when I tested her she was Lo. Off to the ER. She recovered nicely and was well on about two units of U.
She did well for six years or so and then was loosing weight. After starting budesonide she did well again. Then about four months ago she started coughing. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She did well at first with Lasix but her appetite went down even with appetite stimulants. For the last month I was syringe feeding her about one 5.5 oz can twice a day. Over the last few days she really went down hill. She would spend most of her time lying on her side. Yesterday evening her HR was about 200 in that position. She was even more lethargic this morning. I was a peaceful crossing. I was surprised how much liquid come out of her nostrils after she passed.
Thanks everybody for the support over the many years.
