? Mitsos male diabetic cat/Lantus therapy

Hi friends,
I would appreciate your help for Mitsos which is on therapy of lantus..From last September he started with caninsulin with no any success.Afer its hospitalization on last November was changed to lantus 2U twice per day..Due to my stress i was not able to monitor his BG untill the last month that i have achieved it...Before 2 days ago and due to the latest BG results i took the decision to reduce the dose in 1U insted of 2U.May be all the latest good results came as it started only low carb wet food (Purina diabetic DM). For how many days should i remain with the same dose of 1U?Pls check Mitsos ss. Thanks for your help,

we have 2 dosing methods for Lantus and how long you hold the dose as well as when you reduce it depends on which one you decide to follow. However, our dose adjustments here are made by 1/4 unit, not 1/2 and not by a full unit. Big dose adjustments can lead to you speeding right past the ideal dose. I’d hold the 1 unit for at least 7 days to see and I agree that 2 units was too much. Are you using a human meter? If he drops below 90 in a human meter, you’ll want to reduce the dose to .75.
