Hi all- Was hoping for some insight and advice for a newbie. I am tring to get my boy Jack regulated and his numbers are giving me whiplash. His SS is in my signature. Thanks!!

That is a colorful spreadsheet! 1.5 clearly seems too high of a dose. There were times when the cycle lasted too long and you had to skip. So, I like 1.25 better. I don't know what was going on today - it was certainly high and flat which can be too much insulin or bouncing from the previous cycle.

If he were mine, I would shoot 1.25 for a few cycles (unless you get any preshoot numbers in the lower ranges). Anytime you can, get some midcycle numbers - especially at night since that seems to be the cycle that results in the higher amps. Let's see if he settles into the dose and the bouncing stops.

You are feeding Fancy Feast classic, right? No way to get into higher carb? He has no other issues - infections, bad teeth etc?

He has some mild dental stuff, needs cleaning. No infections that I know of, he has some constipation and I am going to start him on Metameucil tonite at vet's suggestion. No way to get into high carb stuff. Feeding FF classic chicken feast or turkey & giblets.

Both miralax and Metamucil make it easier to go. They both soften stool, correct? I was debating between miralax and Metamucil at the store.

Here's what Karen said on the thread:

they are not the same and do not work the same.

Miralax works by drawing water into the intestines...thus the need to provide
extra water with canned food (or Sub-Q fluids, if you are already doing that for
other reasons).

Metamucil adds fiber, and thus bulk to the stool....not always what you want.

So I don't know. I guess it works fine in some cases. I just hear Mirilax more often.

His stool is normal sized, maybe a little smaller, but it's hard. There was lots of fur in it, too. He had hard stool with diarrhea the other day.
Sorry if anyone's eating while reading this.

You will be amazed at how often poo and pee are discussed here at all times.

I would stick with the 1.25u and see if he can even things out.

Glad to see you made it over here.

Welcome to PZI.
