We’re having a bad morning. She started having diarreah last night then vomited this am. Normally she’d eat after the ondansetron, so I gave it to her and gave her shot, but she’s still not eating. I also gave her an apetite stimulant. We’re at +2 now so I’m a bit concerned. All I managed to get her to eat is a bit of baby food. Does anyone know if I can try to give her a second ondansetron? She gets 4mg so that would make it 8mg total

Plumb's Veterinary Handbook gives a maximum dose of 4mg by mouth every 12 hours but that's for severe pancreatitis.

Is there any chance you'd be able to get some advice over the phone from your vet today and maybe get her in for a check-up too so as to determine what's triggered the diarrhoea and vomiting?

They have found on the pancreatitis group that a slightly lower dose given every 8 hours works better as ondansetron effects don’t last any longer than 8 hours. The vet on the SC group has said as much and literature supports that. I will look on their site and see if I can get links later today. My vet was fine with dosing every 8 hours as well. I hope her eating improves.

They want me to try to give her Cerenia. It’s half of a 16mg or a quarter? She ate some chicken. Of course now the apetite stimulant kicked in so she’s crying wanting food but then she smells it and won’t eat. Just a few bites...

I don’t think it’s pancreatitis. She has IBD
