As Howie is decreasing in his food consumption these days and is taking forever to eat his regular meals, is there a suggested minimum amount of food he needs in order to safely get his insulin? He gets a 5.5oz pouch of Weruva food split between breakfast and dinner (and his insulin doses at each) and then a 2.5oz pouch split amongst 6 mini meals in his auto feeder every 24 hrs. He is about 13.3 lbs right now.

As Levemir onset is not for up to 3 or 4 hours, Howie doesn’t need to eat all the food at Preshot.
Do you think he will eat the allocated amount over a few hours post dose?

He does eventually eat even after I stop following him around the house with his food plate. I just get nervous about him not eating enough and shooting right away! He really is not eating much in his auto feeder these days either. I just don’t know if it’s all attributed to pancreatitis, having a new kittie in the house (they eat in separate rooms), or something else. Thanks!

Do you give an appetite stimulant as well?

Have his teeth been checked lately for any infections or bad teeth?. That can stop cats wanting to eat
