Only left her one other time. Found a pet sitter that I will meet today, and show how to do everything. So shell do her PM shot and her AM shot.
I don't know if I need to reduce it if its going to be such a short time away?

Last time I started her on a vacation dose a few days before it was a nightmare trying to get her regulated again. She was not ready for that little of insulin. I dont understand why you need to reduce it so much a few cycles before- I know its to drain the depot but- I still don't understand why such a decrease? What If the pet sitter can test her?
Mimi will let someone test her. Shes a good patient.

I don't want to mess up all the progress we've been making too- with getting her regulated again- she seems tightly regulated compared to a couple of months ago- and that was because I left this group and started listening to a facebook group because their rules were easier but she never saw blues or greens so now I know the importance of this group!
(facebook was just easier to post on- only purely out of laziness)

A lot depends on your comfort level. I always reduced Gabby's dose if I was traveling. You don't need to do a dramatic reduction but safety is always the issue. If Mimi isn't used to your being away, you have no idea if she'll eat the way she usually does and if she's not eating per usual, it's best to not give a full dose. If you're still at 2.25u, I'd reduce to 2.0u. It's also not asking your petsitter to approximate a quarter unit dose -- 2.0u is on a line on the syringe and reduces the potential for a mistake.

I would leave a sample syringe that is set to your dose and use a colored liquid and/or send your petsitter a close up photo of the syringe so she can read the dose.

Thank you! So I didn’t end up going anywhere but good to know for next time. Does she need an increase you think?
 
I'm going to play teacher. I want you to read through TR. Look at Mimi's SS and make a decision. I want you to increase your confidence about dosing decisions. State what you think and then ask a few experienced members if they agree.
