I’m looking at getting a microchip feeder to keep Howie out of my other cat’s kibble. I see a couple different brands/kinds and reviews are all over the place. Due to the expense, I’d love to hear pros/cons of the brand you use from anyone on here that uses one. I’m also open to other ideas of keeping Howie out of her food. (NOTE: she is a semi-feral I rescued so is just starting to trust me and let me pet her. I can’t pick her up. She is also a grazer and not one who eats at consistent times. I’m hoping she’ll allow a collar to go on with a microchip tag as I can’t get her to the vet to be chipped.)

Thank you!

I have the same one as Larry and it’s been a godsend for my IBD cat who needs to graze at all times to avoid empty stomach barfs. She is a shy cat but took to it very quickly. If you have a pushy cat who is likely to try to eat at same time, you might need to buy the plastic cover that goes behind it too (I had to do that or her sister would shove her face in from behind and share the food). When I bought it three years ago it was $170, I would try the manufacturers website, might be cheaper than amazon.
I do recommend getting their two-pack stainless steel bowls. They’re pricey but they’re so much better than using cheap, smaller bowls inside because they have a rubber lip that keeps the seal with the plastic lid and keeps food fresher - however if your cat tolerates plastic bowls then you’re all set (mine can’t it gives them chin acne).
ETA: I have the simple microchip one (which comes with a collar tag too) not the “smart” one.

I use the Sure PetCare Microchip Pet Feeder, which is very similar to the one Larry and Virginie use, but without the shield in the back. It is not the "smart" one. I found it very easy to "train" onto Squirrel's chip. She took to it immediately and we have had no trouble with it. She has CKD and I'm always trying to get her to eat, so it is nice to hear the dish open from across the room. They're not cheap but for me, well worth the money. I'm really happy with it. The only down side is that you have to hand wash the plastic bowls that come with the dish, because they are not dishwasher safe. Perhaps because the little rubber seal around them might get damaged by the heat. I had to buy more bowls separately from the manufacturer because I don't want to have to wash a bowl four times a day in order to feed her.
