Maurice’s mom

Hi, my name is Allison, Maurice’s mom, and I am new to the forum. Our Maurice is an 8 yo who was diagnosed with diabetes in November 2024. He and his littermate, Daisy both have stomatitis ( an autoimmune dental condition). His primary vet put him on Tuojeo (glargine) but he did not have a predictable response and remains hyperglycemic (usually around 420). With Tuojeo, he was up to 4 units in the PM and 5 in the AM. Some days, he would get into the normal range for up to 5 hours but then was back up. During this time, Maurice started dealing with neuropathy affecting his hind feet, and we found the recommendation for methylcobalamine (the zobaline tablets) on this forum. It has been improving his neuropathy, and it seemed like the effect of the insulin was lasting longer and he was seemingly more sensitive to his doses.
Has anyone else seen an increase in sensitivity to insulin with this methylcobalamin supplement?
We have been going to an internal specialist who recently switched Maurice to PZI, initially at 2 units twice a day, but his first PM dose (following his last AM dose of Tuojeo) ended up with him dropping into the hypo zone (asymptomatic). He had his supplement in his food that night, but his tuojeo was probably still in his system. After that episode, they had us reset to 1 unit twice a day, then 1.5 twice a day. He had another hypo drop (still asymptomatic) and we were concerned that the methylcobalamin may have been making him overly sensitive to the dose.
We stopped the supplement for the week (during which time his neuropathy seemed worse), and he had been getting into the high 200s, then coming back up.
The vet just had us increase the PZI to 2 units in the AM and 1.5 in the PM. We are seeing less of a response since switching to the new dose than we had at the 1.5 twice a day. He has been in the high 300s and 400s since increasing the dose, without the methylcobalamine supplement. Has anyone else seen this type of response with/without the methylcobalamine? We are unclear if this lessened response is due to insulin resistance (without the supplements), our shot technique, or our shot locations.
Thank you!
