Hi all,

So Tinka was diagnosed with diabetes in Dec 15th and has been on lantus since then. We are working on a dose that works best for her and using TR method. Her behavour and eating has improved but she still has neuropathy in her back legs which doesn't look like its improved much/at all yet. I finally managed to source a methylcobalamine product that doesn't contain added sugar. Its called Quick B12 by Nutri Start and its a liquid for. The ingredients are Vitamin B12 (0.5 ml provides 1000 mcg of methycobalamin), potassium sorbate, glycerin, citric acid and purified water. How much do I need to dose with the methylcobalamin for treating neuropathy? For how long do you treat?

Here is the link to the product - https://nutristart.com/products/quick-b12/
Thanks in advance!

The Zobaline that most people use is a 3mg tablet given once or twice a day

B-12 is a water soluble vitamin so any excess that the body can't use is just "peed out"

3mg would be 3000 mcg

and you continue giving it until the neuropathy is resolved ....and even after that, it's not going to hurt her

Thanks Chris for this info:) Do you think the liquid option is ok then with those ingredients? Do you think I should squirt it in her mouth or add it to her food? The only tablets I could find locally had sugars in them unforunatley, I don't think the zobaline was available at the health store. I could try the pharmacy though if its a better option then the one I've got. So in terms of dosage if I need to give 3000msg 1-2 times daily that would be 1.5ml of the liquid 1-2 times per day.

I am not sure how ordering online from Amazon works for other countries, I am in the US, but I get Shaak's Zobaline from Amazon, it ships out and I normally have it within three to four days from the moment I order it. I just crush the pill and sprinkle into her food.

Yeah that looks right....you can try adding it to her food but if she won't eat it, you'll have no other choice than to syringe it

You can also buy Zobaline directly from the company that makes it.....I know Amazon in Canada doesn't have it, but the maker (Lifelink) says they ship worldwide

Thanks Cathie:) How much do you dose with per day then?

Thanks Chris that's good to know the company name. I'll see if Tinks minds the liquid in her food. If she does then I'll try buy zobaline online or from Lifelink as I think the pill may be easier to disguise in food. As if have to give her 45 drops in a meek so she may well no like that. Thanks for your help!

one pill once a day.

However, Chris said as you are in Canada you will probably have to buy Zobaline directly from Lifelink, the company that makes it.
Thanks:) So 1 pill is 3g a day then. Have you found it helpful? How long did it take till you saw improvements? Thanks

Within two months Shaak was walking normally, within 4 months she was running around like a kitten and now she can actually jump to the top of the kitchen counter. Drives me nuts, I was so used to being able to leave the pizza on the counter for the kids, now I can't do that. She is on that counter in seconds flat and runs off with pieces of pizza. She has even been known to try and eat food off of dirty plates in the sink. I have to make sure all plates are devoid of any solid food particles.

Wow that's amazing she's improved so much, sounds very promising! Did you try just insulin first to resolve out of interest? Hee hee never seen a car eat pizza. Mine is way to picky ;) I'm sure your kitchen must look much tidier than mine having to hv your dishes washed up quickly all the time;) But yeah Tinka is not jumping up on things that much like she use to and back legs are very down and weak. Can't wait till she improves, it's horrible seeing her like that plus with her skin issues. Thanks for sharing your kitties improvements, it's encouraging :)

I gave 500 mcg twice a day. So 1mg, but my cat didn't really have neuropathy badly... Just a slight limp... So I didn't it more as a preventative. I also give it to my ckd cat to ward off anemia.

Hi, tagging in to inquire if the Vit B helped, TanyaG?
Java has been having increasing hind leg neuropathy, tho' still getting around to his favorite spots. He's quite old, 20 yrs. I'm giving him the type of vitamin B that was recommended at Tanya's kidney Cat website, and wondering about making changes or not. Thanks.
