Hi everyone,
I took Pudden to the vet today because it appears she is now out of remission. I am getting readings in the high 300s.
Pudden has stage 4 kidney failure and is very ill, so the vet thinks it could be stress related. I don't think so and feel she needs insulin, but the scary thing is when I took her to the vet she was 217 and when I checked her at home a half hour later she was 311. That is almost a 100 point difference. Could there be something wrong with my meter?
I wanted a fructosamine test, but was told they don't do it in house and i could come back later this week to get it done. If she goes into the 400s the vet said I can then put her on insulin as then it most likely is true diabetes and not stress.
I am worried though about the difference in readings. Pudden's days are now very stressful being full of syringe feeding, pilling and subq fluids. There is something being done to her basically every 2 hours. She is a very good girl and never gives me problems, but I wonder if it's contributing to the high numbers at home?
She is also slightly anemic. Could that be throwing my meter?
