I am impressed with Merrick's responsiveness to my inquiry. See below:
Hello Susan,

Thanks for inquiring; Here are the canned cat food flavors listed below that would have the requirement you requested. These percentages are Dry Matter Base

Cowboy Cookout Phosphorus 0.84% Carbs 6.14%

Grammy’s Pot Pie Phosphorus 0.97% Carbs 9.92%

Surf & Turf Phosphorus 0.95% Carbs 4.13%

Unfortunately since we just changed our Before Grain line to 96% meat we do not have our guaranteed analysis on the flavors. You may check back with us later for this information.

If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know.

Thanks,
Lesa

My e-mail to Merrick on Apr 3:

Hello - I have special medical needs kitties (Chronic Renal Disease & Diabetes). I am searching for canned cat food which will meet both of these medical nutritional requirements:
<10% carbohydrates on dry weight basis
<1.3% Phosphorus dm
high quality protein

I have searched your web site but do not find information regarding phosphorus content. Will you please provide that information to me including specifics on carbs for:
Cowboy Cookout
Before Grains (all varieties)

Also, if you have any other suggestion or recommendations, I'd appreciate that too.

Thank you very much,

What difference does the weight versus calories make? Also - one more food question while I'm at it... I noticed that when folks here (FDMB) serve FF they serve the grilled kind, however I noticed that the third ingredient on that is wheat gluten whereas the fish (pate) type is higher in protien (1% not much but still) and doesn't have the wheat gluten. Why serve the grilled if that is the case? Surely I'm missing something important about foods contents.

Per unit weight, fat has twice the calories than carbs or protein. Specifically, one gram of fat has 9 calories while one gram of carbs or protein has only 4 calories.

Susan, did Merrick ever get back to you regarding the phosphorous content of their B.G. line of canned cat food?
Or, has anyone found out? I was not able to find the info on their site either.
I have an older cat with borderline CRF and I'd like to know the numbers on the food so I might be able to feed it to her as well (in small amounts with a lower protein food). Thanks!

Victoria
