Just went to Petco and found some Merrick BG Before Grain canned food. Anyone know the carb content in these? I just recently took Casanova totally off of his dry food and am trying to only feed low carb wet.

Thanks,
Laura

I believe that the Before Grain line, is just foood, that is, has none of the added nutrients cats need. The last time I looked, which I admit was some time ago, the cans said that it was not for continual feedings.
Please just check the fine print on the package.

Front of label reads "Complete and balanced nutrition for cats". List of ingredients does have vitamins and minerals. Sounds good but have to figure out the carbs.

Just went to the website www.beforegrain.com/. It didn't used to be a complete food but they just recently changed the formula.

They have both. The 96% is complete and balanced. The 100% is just for supplemental feeding. Both are very low carb. Be sure you get the 96% if you intend to use it regularly for meals.

Merrick is phasing out the 100% Before Grain ones. You can still find them in stores, though. So read the label carefully before you buy. The 100% ones are supplement only, good for an occasional snack or treat. The 96% ones are nutrionally complete and are ok to feed as part of the regular diet.
