Hi! I'm Leslie, cat mom to Jackson (9 yo dsh Tuxie boy), Pippi (8 yo dsh orange tabby girl), Bartleby (5 yo flame point siamese boy), and Colette (5 yo dlh grey girl).

Pippi is my sugar girl. She was dx about 3 weeks ago after I noticed she was urinating and drinking incessantly as well as flooding the litter box. She was placed on 2u of Prozinc 2x daily. I monitor her multiple times per day and her numbers are steadily getting better. I've already had to pull back on her insulin because most mornings she is registering at less than 100 on the meter. My babes were previously fed a dry food, but have all been switched to wet food after this incident with morning and evening controlled feedings in separate rooms. All are benefiting from the diet change. Bartleby was quite the chunker and was edging up on 20 lbs and likely headed the same direction as Pippi who was also quite a chunker. I found this forum and while I am just now making an account, it has been a godsend for me multiple times so far on this journey.

Well, Hi Leslie, Jackson, Pippi, Bartelby and Colette. I'm glad you found the board and have been reading the information that's available. Please create a signature so that Pippi's information is handy on posts in other forums. Here's a link on how to do that, and another link on creating a spreadsheet for recording insulin shots, dosage and BG tests. Signature

I hope you have had the chance to read about Prozinc in that insulin support group, and post there to meet and introduce yourself to fellow Prozinc users and learn more about dosing, since you say you are "pulling back on insulin". There may be recommendations to help you do that safely and in increments. It's true that changing to a low carb wet diet does lower BG and I sure would like you to present this in that forum to experienced members. You are clearly invested in helping Pippi and the others to greater health, and you will find help here.
