It's amazing to me how quickly Melville seemed to have turned around over the last seven days. I have a hard time remembering when he was getting red PS numbers and I was fretting about every possible variable. Everything seems to be so much easier now -- even his shots are easier (I've learned to wait until after he eats but before he starts grooming himself. I pet his back until he lays down, then sneak the shot in. He barely notices). I've also been able to stop testing so often: twice a day seems like plenty. I hope this lasts, but know that it probably won't. I just wish I could go back in time a month and show myself today's spreadsheet.

As far as dosing goes, 2.0 seems too low, but not dangerously so in my opinion. Next time we go out of town, I might leave the caretaker with instructions to give 2.0. That way, there is little chance of hypos, but he will still spend a good portion of his day under 250.

2.2 units seems to be another safe number -- and easy to shoot (5.5 on the 100U syringes). I'm going to leave him here for a few more cycles to see where his preshot numbers settle in. I might eventually give 2.3 a try, just to have additional data points.

He is looking good. You guys are doing great.

Someday if you want to pay it forward, tell your story to a newbie on Health: how impossible it seemed at first, how much easier it seems now.
