I agonized over when the right time would be. I kept thinking, it's too soon. When the home vet said she could come either Friday or Wednesday, I thought, not Friday, it's too soon. So I was prepared for this Wednesday. I still wondered, am I doing it too soon.

Well, Friday she stopped eating. She wanted to eat, but the tongue mass wouldn't let her. She lapped up some milk. Sat and today, the same thing. It is heartbreaking watching her try to eat and give up. I tried finger feeding, but she fought me. So now is too late.
I will now have to take her to the vet, not at home where I wanted her to go. My heart is heavy. I'm gonna stay out in the living room now to be near her. This is so hard. Donna

you're doing right by her, donna. kitties are okay with this. we're the ones who agonize and hurt so much -- they're very practical critters and know when their time comes. couldn't be clearer that it's time, which means there's no second guessing and we know it's the right thing to do.

wishing you both peace and much love in her final hours. (((Hugs)))

Safe crossing, sweet McKaela

(((Donna))) - I am so sorry. It sounds like she is ready. All she needs now is for you to stay with her, and surround her in the love that she trusts. She knows you will help her, and we know that making this last, loving decision will break your heart.

A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please me.

Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life
with the love she has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor her
by sharing those memories with others.

Let her remember me as well
and let her know that I will always love her.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow her to accompany those
who will bring me home.

Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of her companionship
and for the time we've had together.

And thank you, Lord,
for granting me the strength
to give her to you now.

Amen.

Wishing you peace, comfort and strength.

I know this is such a hard decision, but your love for McKaela shines through and in the end you are giving her the greatest gift of love. Will be thinking of her and sending prayers for a peaceful journey.

((((((((((((( Donna ))))))))))))))

Will be thinking of you and McKaela today --- esp this afternoon.... and saying a prayer for a gentle crossing.
She will take with her so much love, and your heart is filled w/hers.
Helping her on her Journey is a special gift. You've taken such amazing care of her. I'm sorry it has to hurt so much for you --- The price of such love.

sending wishes of comfort for you both,

((((((Donna))))

You are giving your girl the greatest gift of love we lowly humans have to give to our furbabies. While the knowledge that you have done the best for her and now release her from her pain it still doesn't help with the gaping wound in your heart. Even while you are hearing those awful words "She's gone" there will be dozens upon dozens of GAs that are going to be looking up and saying "Here she comes" just as when it is your time to cross over that she will look up from chasing a butterfly and her ears will shivel forward, and whiskers will twitch then she will start purring and bound towards you with her tail held high like in the days of her youth. And then the time of parting will be over. But until that day comes I hope you can remember and smile when you think of all the wonderful times you spent together.

Mel

PS. I sent a little prayer to Muse that she will met McKaela at the bridge to show her around.

((((Donna)))) I'm so very sorry....these decisions are so hard. Sending you prayers for peace and lots of hugs.

Safe passage McKaela...you will be well and young again at the Bridge.

((((((((((((((((((((((((DONNA)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I am sending lots of peaceful passing vibes. I am sorry you couldnt have it at home. Fly free McKaela. Wrapping you in many cyber hugs Donna.

((Donna)) I am so very sorry. I really wish they could stay here with us longer. Hugs and prayers coming to you during this sad time.

(((Donna and McKaela))) My prayers are with you. This is the feast day of St. Francis of Assissi, a wonderful day for her to go home to heaven. But how very sad for you! I have been where you are, and know how very heartwrenching it is. As long as you are with her, her passing will be comforting for her. From your loving arms to St. Francis's... This is the hardest gift of love to give.

I am so sorry for your loss, may she always be in your heart and I hope you know she is part of your soul, now and forever.
Thinking of you in your time of grief, you are courageous and are giving your sweet girl the ultimate expression of love.
Prayers are with you.

(((/donna))))

it's awful, I'm so sorry. Your decision was made out of compassion, and that's always the right place to make a decision from.

peace for her, and for you, as you let her go on her way, to another existence in which she won't suffer.

lots of love and prayers for you both,

Hi Donna-

Just catching up now. I'm so sorry. It sounds like the time was right. It's horrible to see them suffer one second longer than they have to.

Safe travels McKaela!

Oh Donna. I am so very, very sorry. I know your heart is breaking right now and I do so wish I could ease some of the pain for you. I hope that McKaela's passing was peaceful. For sure I know that she felt your love as she left this world and that so many of our kitties were there to greet her at the Bridge. I bet Stu cooked up a very special feast for her.

Please take care Donna and know that we are here for you.
