OMG What a day! Maynard is the last of my Butchie babies and he is going to be 19 in January.

I was doing laundry earlier today and all of a sudden, I heard a loud deep crying. I knew something was not right.... Maynard was under the bed laying on his side, limp and crying. I freaked out. I picked him up and put him on the bed and tried to pet him and talk to him. He would not move; he had labored breathing and he was panting; his eyes dialated and he was crying. Then, he peed ALOT on the bed - never saw so much pee!! I freaked out. I thought his kidneys gave out and his body was shutting down. I thought this was it! nailbite_smile

Told my hubby to get the truck and we took him to the vet. By the time we got to the vet, he was holding his head up and looking around. We got into the room and within 20 min, he was as if nothing happened. The vet came in after about 1/2 hour and said it sounded like a seizure. They re-did his blood work to compare with Feb bloodwork and his CREA and BUN was higher than before. She put him on renal diet and said she wanted to see him back in 2 weeks to re-do blood work. She said his temp was a little low and his blood pressure was ok. I should also think about starting him on fluids.

I couldn't believe the difference in him after about an hour. It was as if I had imagined the whole thing. He was such a good boy at the vet, but he was tired. At least now I know what a seizure looks like and what to do. I didn't think I would have him home with me tonight. I really thought this was it! @-)

Its d*mn scary when that happens, for whatever cause.

Glad it was 'just' a seizure.

He likes the Royal Canin Renal LP food - so that is good. They are charging me about $1.25/3oz can. I have to start looking on line to see if I can get it cheaper. Not sure if any stores carry that :(

He is doing ok today. Back to his "normal" self.
