Well, I've upped Tink to 1u of ProZinc. It SEEMS to FINALLY be making a difference - only seen one # over 300 since we started (on our 5th cycle now). Still not seeing low enough nadirs, but I'm thinking we might get there with this cycle. AMPS was 215 and I still shot 1u as I am home today. Yesterday, PMPS was 241 and I shot 1u - he got to 132 at +4, but that was mealtime, so it seemed to go back up from there. Getting closer!

Once again yesterday, his numbers went DOWN between +10 and PMPS - not the first time that's happened. Really seems odd to me. It SEEMS that he is seeing his nadir earlier than +6 - though that could be due to my feeding schedule.

Changing the feedings to 6/12/6/12 didn't work - I think they were ready to eat me in my sleep. I'm now feeding at 6am (AMPS), 11am (+5), 6pm (PMPS) and 10pm (+4) - will do the last feeding a little later when I'm up later. It seems to be working ok - at least each cycle is getting two meals, whereas before the first cycle was getting 3 meals and the 2nd was only getting one meal. However, I WILL say that messing with their feeding schedule is still having repercussions. For whatever reason, Tink now finds it necessary to scratch at my bedroom door for HOURS each night. If I let him in, he just wants back out... so I'm trying to "ignore" him - which is easier said than done since I have french doors so his little kitty nails are scratching on GLASS. NOT a pleasant sound to try to fall asleep to. :o

You may find that freezing some, to be eaten as it thaws, and/or using a timed feeder (Pet Safe 5 seems to work well), may help with the feeding issues.

Unfortunately, freezing wont help me, as I have 4 cats in the house. It would be free game. I do use the PetSafe5 - however, at this point it's more of a behavior issue than anything. I feed them before I go to bed, and now Tink is scratching on my door within 5 minutes of lights out. I'm not sure WHY, as he's never done this before - it's new since I tweaked the schedule initially. It SEEMS like he's starting to "get it" that I'm NOT going to open the door - he's giving up sooner than he was a few days ago. But still.

Oddly enough, even at 1u, he was horribly flat yesterday (after I wrote that I fully expected to see a good nadir!). I think his AMPS was his lowest # all day. Go figure. I'll try to post numbers when I get home. I'm starting to wonder if I dont need to look at a different insulin. His overall numbers are lowER (200s mostly, rather than 300s) but nowhere near where they should be - except sometimes. @-) It could also be that he needs yet a higher dose. I'm going to get several boxes of strips today as I nearly ran out yesterday. I think it's going to take some more playing with the dose and a lot of testing before I figure out the right dose to get him regulated again.

Earlier in the evening, you might try 15-20 minutes of active play to tire him and the others. It may reduce the door scratching.

That's a good idea. Have to find another "red dot" toy - that was always a hit, but not sure what ever happened to it. It's so odd that he's doing this now, as he doesn't seem to WANT anything in particular. Just to keep me from sleeping I guess.

:-D Maybe he wants to keep his best friend his caretaker company and watch you while you sleep.... ~O) cat(2)_steam Kath

If he just wanted to watch me sleep, I'd let him in. However, as soon as I start to FALL asleep is usually when he wants back out. Then back in. Then back out... :YMSIGH:
