Arnold has lost at least 1.5# in the past 2 mos or so even w/ the same diet and amount fed etc. Tigger has lost some weight too but I think it's b/c Arnold eats his part! I tried feeding them seperatly in different rooms but that made Tigger mad. Anyways, they had their dentals done today and Arnold was 158 fasting. I know BG can go up w/ stress but that's a little high and w/ the weight loss the vet wants us to go back to testing him at least 2x a week. I need to get our spread sheet back out but do others randomly test. He's been insulin free for almost a year now (on the 17th I think it'll be a year) so I'm a little rusty. I remember they needed to be at least 200 to get their insulin but if we're randomly testing, when should I do that and what #s am I looking for? They eat Nutro Max canned and we're not switching so that's not an option for us. We finally found something that Arnold can eat and will eat w/out making him sick so that's going to have to be what we feed them. Thanks.

Welcome back. Sorry you have to be here, though. As a general guideline, many cats here who are not on insulin test from 40 - 100. So, I would say you definitely need to get some testing in and see what ranges you are looking at. Testing in the am and pm, before and after meals will give you good information.

If he was 158 at the vet and stressed, he could be much lower at home. Hopefully he will be.

Thanks. Now that you mention that I do remember that from when he was going OTJ. I remember writing on here b/c he was so low naturally! Hopefully it's nothing. I was just reading another post on IBD and that was something we discussed today w/ the vet. I'm just trying to accept my little guys are getting older and have different needs.
