Hi Everyone,
Sorry I don't get on here as much as I used to, but now I have two cats, Ketchie with the tumor growing on her back near her tail/spine (she is over 17 years old) and her days may be numbered.
But, my May-Belle who is 11 years old had never been out of my house in 10 years. She started losing weight, and not eating much, so I took her to my vet's a few weeks ago, and she x-rayed her, and ran bloodwork. When she palpated May-Belle's stomach area, she really cried from pain. So, my vet felt from looking at the x-rays, that her kidneys were enlarged and almost overlapping. The one on the left where May-Belle is feeling more pain, seems to be larger. We fear she may have cancer in there, but are treating her right now as if she has Pancreatitis. She is on fluids, at the vet's, and Buprenex twice a day for pain. She is still not eating much, and I wondered if anyone here has had a cat with kidney cancer?
The vet just felt her again this past Monday, and said that she feels a firmness she does not like on May-Belle's left side. Not a whole lot to do, and I don't want to keep her suffering, if it is cancer. I was just curious if anyone here has dealt with kidney cancer?
I hope to take M-B to the vet's this Saturday, before this hurricane heads into our area (I am in Maryland) and get fluids for her and let the vet feel this area again.
May-Belle has always been such a sweet little thing, and she weighs about 9 pounds now, where she used to weigh about 11 pounds. Also, the vet has her on Baytril for possible infection.
Here is her picture:
May-Belle is a tuxedo.
Thanks for any info if anyone has any knowledge of enlarged kidneys or cancer in them.
