Well, Rufus had been doing well for the past ~14 months. Beautiful BG's. He could eat whatever he wanted, whenever and would not affect his BG. He was on pred and then taked off when he was originally diagnosed diabetic Thanksgiving 2017. His numbers were ALWAYS in the 400's and up to 6.5 units 2 times a day. Then we did dental in February 2018, and 5 or 6 weeks later he was off the juice. Tested every month and was always great. Well, tested tonight and 533, 344, and 500. I am heartbroken. I wonder if it's his teeth again. I JUST spent 6000.00 on my other cat who is having kidney issues. Does this ever stop? Can't I catch a break. I'm so tired of this crap. Ugh.

Sorry to hear Rufus might have fallen off the wagon.:bighug: Any other signs besides high blood sugar? Sounds like a trip to the vet is in order.

Well he is drinking more again. I thought it was because of the junk food he was eating. Sometimes that gives him a tummy ache. Or I thought may be the CKD was progressing a bit.

Do you think stress (at home) can cause diabetes to come back? My other guy, Ozzie, was at the ER for 6 days. He came back and Rufus did not like him for about a week. Then we had to switch foods for Ozzie and had about 5 different kinds out. I know they say diabetes in remission, but we truly belived that once his dental was done, that he was not diabetic anymore. He was eating anything and everything and his numbers were awesome! Just don't get why after 14 months it put him back in high numbers. I guess he may need a dental again. I just want to cry. I can't believe everything that is going on with both of my guys.

Oh Sean. Not the update I was looking for!!!

I am with Wendy - get back on the low carb food. There is low carb food that is low in phosphorus for Ozzie.
Get a check up - especially those teeth as we know that was a real factor last time.

And no, you have pets, you have crap that your have to scoop every day. Sorry not funny I know.

I hope Rufus will go back into remission again once he is diet controlled again.

Big issue is separating food. Ozzie needs a phosphorus binder. No easy way to seperate. I have 2 sure feed microchip feeders now. Still havnet gotten them up an running yet. Went to vet. Good news is that there was a fill in vet there, who is willing to prescribe Adequan and will allow me to buy online! My reg vet woudnt prescrib and I had to drive an hour away to get it before.

Who gets the Adaquin?

Oh Sean! I’m so sorry Rufus has fallen out of remission. Yes, low carb diet is important for the rest of his life.

I would start with a vet visit as a dental issue is one of the reasons a cat falls out of remission. And get him back on low carb ASAP .

And as @Tracey&Jones (GA) says, crap forever with animals. Figuratively and literally .

We went to vet last night. She thinks it could be dental related, even though she doesn't see anything. We'll get bloodwork and urinalysis and go from there. He is only getting friskies wet right now, and he's not to happy about it...
