Hi everyone
Well the day is finally here and Max has been off insulin for 1 year now.
I know it has been a while since we posted but Max is always looking in on his buddies.

Everything seems to be going very well in the house. Max is very purry and very alert and
just a total love bug. He is enjoying his baby sister who loves to cuddle up with him.

I still cannot believe a year has gone by although just a warning that this party might be short
lived so better get here quickly.

Max's numbers usually range in the 60's and 70's so today on his annifursary I tested him and he gave me a 150. OMG that is not a good number and is over the threshold. I am waiting 3 hours from his morning feeding to see if he brings himself down and I will take it from there.
There has been nothing unsual in his behaviour, no excess drinking or peeing but I did notice his breath last night seems a bit off. Not acetone, just smelly.
We just might be coming back from the falls so paws crossed that this is a little bump in the road.

Still many thanks to all of our friends here and for all the newbies I want to say hang in. It is so worth it. I am posting my last trial condo here for those that do not know our story and would like some encouragement.

Many hugs and scritches to everyone here. Our thoughts go out to all of our beloved kitties that crossed the bridge this year.

you are the kitty that paved the way for Binks...you know, just deciding one day that you were done with insulin...
so lets get back to those double digit numbers pronto!

+2 from feeding Max is 52. I have no idea what happened this morning. DH told me
that Max and Isabelle were running around this morning. Maybe all that excitement spiked him a bit. I will monitor him today and see where it goes.

It is so cute that he still comes to the chair when he sees me carry his testing supplies.

Well you gave me a little scare when I read your first paragraph Ms. Randi!!!!! Then I said to myself "smelly breath at 150 is not from anything bad...and this I know" Maybe Max went out for bagels and lox to celebrate this morning?

In any event...I'm glad to see he's back to 50 and now I'm thinking that maybe the first was a 'bad' test strip?

Happy Annifursary to you and Max!!!

Hi Max and Randi. Choco and I have been here for about two months now and have really gotten a lot of help. It's so great to hear that Max has been off of insulin for a year and is still doing well. I think this morning was just a day late April Fool's joke on ya. ;-) Happy Annifursary to you guys and have a great day!!!

Has it really been a year? I remember vividly how one day Max just decided to get down to OTJ, and he did!! His SS is indeed an inspiration.
Randi, I always look for your posts in the condos. You are a great help here and we appreciate all that you continue to do.
And do you know what? Plattsburgh still awaits!

First number was a crazy 150, but later a 52? Come on, he was just messin' with ya' at first.
I think the fact that he can bring himself down shows that he is perfectly fine.

Max, congratulations on your one year Annifursary! And don't scare your mommy like that again, ok?

I can't believe it's been a year, either. I hope there are many more celebrations to come.

As for that 150, maybe the bean's testing skills have gotten a bit rusty! (Or maybe Max needs a dental?)

Sienne, so funny that you said that because I stood there with the strip in my hand for a few seconds trying to remember which was the right end to stick into the meter. :lol: :lol:
Yup I think this bean is rusty but true to Max he dropped 100 points during that time.

Now that it has been a year my next vet appointment will be to discuss an overdue dental.
He never had one.

My pleasure Karrie. I still remember those early days and how crazy things were for Max and I.

Certainly Max's climb up that dosing ladder was a true mystery as was his tumbling
down. We could not reduce that dose fast enough for Mad Max. :mrgreen:

Ellas, yes we owe each other a Plattsburgh trip. I will be due to restock my 21 cases of
Fancy Feast early May. I buy the coffee. :-D

Oh MY he threw you a curve ball this morning :o ....but in classic Max fashion followed with a bottom dive. He is just showing off and letting you know Mr. P is working like a pro. But what a day to scare Mama like that! Can you believe it's been a year?? So proud of our boys! It is a GREAT milestone & a joy to celebrate with you as it was to graduate together. Class of Spring '10 RULES!!

(PS: am I off by a day?...we are one day behind but thought ours was the 4th??)

I'm late to the party (internet issues, grrr!), but I wanted to add my congrats! I was blissfully unaware of FD one year ago, so we missed Max's wild ride, but his SS tells quite a story! :shock: Thanks for the link to Max's last condo, how wonderful and touching it is...what an inspiration for all of us!

Wishing you many more OTJ annifursaries to celebrate! (Max, please be try not to scare your bean with a blue number next time she tests, ok?)

I cannot believe it has been a year already. I remember that wild ride Max took you on and had the rest of us on the edge of our seats.
I miss you guys.....you were one of the early morning risers with me and the Putman.
