Re: Maverick day 3 - AMPS 214.2 1.0 unit

Well that SS certainly goes from pink to yellow doesn't it? I hope the new low carb food makes a difference for him today .. have a great weekend!

Great that you will be doing a curve today....looking forward to seeing beautiufl beautiful numbers Maverick!
That's a nice low yellow to start off with!

Re: Maverick day 3 - AMPS 214.2 1.0 unit +2 250?

I didnt expect the +3 number to go up?
He's only eaten about an ounce of LC food this morning. I keep bringing him back but he eats more at night than he does in the daytime.

Is this normal? I don't think I did a furshot this morning. He's only on 1 unit and has very long hair but I didn't feel any wetness at all.

Re: Maverick day 3 - AMPS 214.2 1.0 unit +3 250?

It is good to always get a test of two in during the PM cycle...at least a before bed time check.
We are data freaks around here ya know! ;-) I see that no PM tests were done for the past 3 days, right?
some kitties get their lowest numbers during that Pm cycle...weird, but it works out that way. so getting a test at night gives an idea of where they are heading.
When did he eat last? Only that little bit earlier? Well, I don't know what to think...but just keep on getting your numbers for today...see where he goes if he eats again....
(what did you give him this morning?)

Re: Maverick day 3 - AMPS 214.2 1.0 unit +3 250?

I didn't test last night because I had fed him high carb food through the day without knowing it.

He had only eaten about an ounce of low carb food right after 8:30AMPS/shot - its presidents choice Turkey and Giblets. He hasn't eaten much more since. Maybe a half ounce if that. He is a grazer - up until diabetes hit this time I had never seen him eat more than an ounce of wet food at a time. A few times in the past few weeks he's eaten 3oz in a short period but this is very rare prediabetes.

He ate about 3 or 4 oz of low carb turkey and giblets through the night (and 1.5oz of that from 2AM to 6AM). I have to get up with my dog in the middle of the night so I could test Maverick through the night.

Maybe the low reading this morning was on the more inaccurate side of readings.

I plan on trying to get him to eat a bit more - sprinkle some pure bites on it. I'm going to look into fortaflora at the vets also - does this affect blood glucose? I see online it only lists %fat and %protein and there is a big chunk left unexplained. I'll do a search of the forum also.

I'll test again at +6.

Thanks :)

Re: Maverick day 3 - AMPS 214.2 1.0 +6 275???

He hasn't eaten anything since this morning. About 1.5 oz of wet food.

+6 registering 275. Furshot? 1unit would be hard to tell but I check for any sign of wet fur. He has such long hair. I'm going to have to shave parts of him until I'm 100%. We haven't had a furshot yet that I know of.

Re: Maverick day 3 - AMPS 214.2 1.0 +6 275???

Not really. Its like his pre-diabetic appetite is back : )

Any ideas on why the numbers are going up instead of down?

Fortiflora is recommended very frequently here on the board, and I have never heard anyone mention its having an effect on BG's. Dr. Lisa has also recommended it on her website as a flavor enhancer (see page 6 of attached document).

Thanks I'll be reading that tonight. Going to try and get up the first three hours to check his insulin levels. He just ate an ounce or so of food.

Reading is higher than I expected yet again.

Fortiflora is great stuff, I can get one of my civies to eat anything with it! Hope he starts eating better for you.

Maverick - let's paw-ty! - Muffin

Do not be concerned yet about slightly higher numbers, it looks like you are a newbie, so it takes time to get to the right dosage.

Mavericks numbers look fine for just starting out.

Sometimes you'll see a +2 number go up...or even later on. ECID   I just scratch my head when that happens. No worries on these numbers....his AMPS was almost blue

If you can find freeze dried chicken treats, alot of kitties in LL like the chicken "dust". Gracie does...she won't eat flortiflora. It's about the ONLY thing she
won't eat.
