Well, we hit 25)'s twice last night so I opted to due .2 units @ 10pm
Did a test this am at @5, but didn't chart it and don't remember at work, will check at home and put in her chart then
Fed her, she gobbled down 1/2 FF mixed grill at 8am she was 414 (?) wrote down at home, but didn't get on her SS
gave her .5 (I know not 12 hours but really had to go to work) Did put out more food 1/2 can ff cod; Will try to get home at lunch time to see how she is and add more food.
I have to travel next week Sun-Sun. Oldest daughter will take care of kitty crew, but so far has not been successful get BG from Maisey (and she's a nurse- unfortunately Maisey is her favorite kitty and I think that hinders her)
I tried to straighten out her SS here at work without written notes with me and MS brain kicked in, so I may have just screwed it up.

Not unexpected after a day and a half without insulin. I think your .5 should be okay but it will be nice if you can test at noon. We can either try for a micro dose that you can give more often or just plan to give insulin once daily or experiment with food. Your data will help you figure out the best way to do this.

I hope you can convince your daughter that the only way to keep Maisey safe is to test. If she is her favorite cat, hopefully that won't be too hard. Your daughter can also post on here if she needs help.

Just wanted to add my two cents with Sue's. Some kitties can hover (go back and forth) with being ready to go off insulin. I think the .5u was a good call. Did Maisey eat anything different yesterday? If not, she may just need a little more time with the micro doses (.1u-.5u) while her pancreas heals. Sounds like your daughter just needs a little practice with the testing. I was so afraid I was going to hurt Max. Once I realized it didn't really hurt, it was easier to poke. I have to use the poker (lancet device) though cause I'm too chicken to poke hard enough manually. Be sure to tell your daughter to come to the forum if she has any questions.

Re: Maisey - improving

I straightened out Maisey's SS with my notes at home. She is on PZI 100 and I use 100 needles
I checked her at 7pm yesterday and she was 179, at 10pm she was 258 so I gave .5 units
This morning at 7am she was 152 she had eaten at 5am. She is 137 at 8am since she's going down, holding off on the juice.
Couldn't get home at noon yesterday, but should make it today.

Got home at 1pm and did check 158 (she had crunched a least a couple of pieces of Purina DM)
Next check will hopefully be near 7pm- which will be 21 hours after last shot. Hoping we will be at a place for a micro dose.

Last night check wasn't until 9pm - 23 hours post .5 units. She was 158 I know this is good, but I didn't want to see 400 in the a.m. so I gave .1 unit - Goosh that is tiny, had to wear my bifocals to see
Wouldn't you know she was 97 this morning at 8am so no shot, gave her a ff with gravy for breakfast. Can't wait to see what numbers I get tonight :?

That .1 got her down to a 97 amps is fantastic! I would be careful with the food - gravy is higher carb. You want her to bring herself down whenever possible. The lower the carb, the more likely this is to happen.

Just for reference, we generally consider a kitty in remission when she is between 40 - 120, with the majority of the time in double digits, without insulin. Maisey is certainly shirting on the edge of that range!

:RAHCAT Go Maisey (really all the credit goes to you Kathy...you're doin' so good with this)! Sounds like the .1u was just what she needed.

Maisey 36+ no juice

OK, here we are 24 hr post .1 unit and she is now 67. I have given lots of low carb foods this afternoon/evening. So, nothing again tonight.

Now 36+ Maisey has eaten two small meals - about 1/4 can ff since 5a.m. Now 1 hour after eating she is 61 a 9 am.

Told my daughter she would absolutely have to test Maisey at least in the a.m. - Guess I should tell her no insulin unless over 200 and then just , how much? .1 ?
