Lysine?

Pumpkin has been sneezing periodically. The vet suggested giving him Lysine but the web show studies that it really doesn't help. Anyone using it - does it help the sneezing?

No I don't see any improvement with my cat.

If it's allergies causing the sneezing, like seasonal, I've used Benadryl for my boy. I thought Lysine was for herpes virus

My one kitty had feline herpes and the l-lysine worked very well for that . Periodic sneezing, as Yong said, may well be an allergy, in which case l-lysine would not be of any help.

Has the vet given you a reason for the sneezing? Feline herpes does cause periodic sneezing. I used l-lysine for a cat with felines herpes and it worked well. It helps by boosting the immune system. So if that is the problem it should work.

I use it and it woks. For at least two cats it stopped watering eyes. When I stopped, the watering started. I now use it twice daily with food.

I don't think it helped Max. Zyrtec did.

Gave Marvel 1/2 Zrtec when he was sneezing a lot. It helped. Started giving them L-Lysene, it seems to have helped. Only occasional sneezes now. They love the "sprinkles".

We use the Lysine paste for Dweezil for his sneezing / snuffling when stressed and it does help him.
