Hi Joan
Future reference -
A green number (a really nice one too!) at shot time is exactly what you've been hoping for. It does however mess up your routine
You didn't need to feed it to stop it from going lower, because 12 hours after the shot, the insulin should be "gone" and she shouldn't be dropping any more.
Sometimes, it helps to stall and wait for the number to come up on its own, but in this case, it wasn't going to happen quickly it looks like. So skipping the shot was about your only option.
The next shot, she'll most likely be higher. I don't think that will be due to the food though. It'll be "gone" from her system long before PMPS. If you see a higher number, it will be due to not having any insulin for 24 hours. It also may be inflated by a "bounce" from the string of green numbers, but that's not a "given" either.
What may have happened - sometimes a dose that is "too much" can push the numbers too far down. BUT, it can also cause the cycle to run "longer than normal", and I think that's what you saw this morning, in part.
I'm thinking the scale needs to be adjusted "down". Can't tell for sure unless you happen to catch the "low" in the middle of the cycle, but the pink numbers you have been seeing could be more related to bouncing from lows than from not enough insulin.
Tonight, I wouldn't shoot more than 1u no matter how high her PMPS number is. If she gives you an unexpectedly low number at PMPS, post here if you aren't sure what to do.
