After testing Lucy this morning she was 340. She went 24 hours w/o insulin yesterday due to low PMPS. I fed her, gave her her shot, then she proceeded to vomit everywhere GOOD MORNING! She is not a vomiter. Is vomiting a side effect of her glucose levels going all over the place? Should I wait quite a while to feed her again? Oh, Lucy.

I'd feed her again, a smaller amount, if she has insulin on board.

My civvie Mia is a barfer. Barfs pretty much at will, I'd swear. Poopy is not a barfer. With that said, Poopy will barf on occasion, with high BGs or not. Cats have an amazing self purging action (barfing) whenever they are trying to rid themselves of something (hairball is Poopy's most frequent...even if the hairball doesn't appear). For myself, I don't panic over the occasional barf (or Mia's barfing), but I understand barfing can be a sign of something else. Not sure one barf counts, though.

Sorry to ramble. :-D

Don't worry too much, unless she keeps barfing. Probably not a reaction to higher numbers (which is a natural reaction to no insulin for 24 hours).

Her number is not all that high, considering it follows a skipped shot. (High is in the 400-500 range) Did you try a different food yesterday or today? How long since she has hacked up a hairball?

Is she better now? Has she barfed again? Did you try feeding her a little more food - in small doses?

Same food. It wasn't a hairball, it was disgusting liquid cat food. About five times. She's walking around, purring away, cleaning herself. Hasn't puked in about four hours. I think I'll try to feed her again. Just a little.

She's feeling better. I just checked her at +6 and she's gone UP since this morning's shot..

Hello,
my Pudge vomits rarely but somewhat unusually, & fairly recently, developed sensitivity to FF beef classic formula. Only then does he get projectile amounts of liquid food out! I checked this out by not giving any beef for a couple of weeks &, then, trying again - just to make certain I knew that's what it was. I'm now totally convinced that's what it is. He does not get hairballs, but even a few swallowed hairs will get some bubbly saliva out of him. This last issue has been solved by his falling in love with white petroleum jelly - no more bubbling saliva. On the other hand, I can't use it for the occasional ear pokes because he tries to twist & turn to lick my fingers!!!

Best wishes,
Sophie

Holy Toledo. Just bought a case of FF Tender Beef Feast because that's what both cats will eat. She hasn't vomited since this morning YAY

LOL, maybe you two could do a "food swap" if Pudge won't tolerate Beef and Lucy can.
