My cat Tiggy went into remission 2 weeks ago form his diabetes. When he was diagnosed a diabetic we took him off dry food altogether and now we feed him onlyWellness core chicken canned a day. Thing is, his stools are now very very soft and he is wiping his butt everywhere and is smelly. We thought initially it was the diabetes but now are thinking it could be the fact he isn't eating dry any more - only wet food.. maybe its too high fat? Any one else experienced this ? any suggestions for a better cat food that isn't as rich or fatty?

Might be just taking a little time for his body to adjust to the new type of food. You could just experiment with other low carb canned to see if there's some that make for firmer poo.

Congratulations on the remission.

He was always on this wet food and never had any problems but he used to get equal quantities of it and a dry food. Now we cut out the dry and increased this wet and the problems started. Is there a way to add fibre or something to the food to make it better? Or maybe some other food thats lower fat?

My understanding is that Merrick is fairly moderate fat (compared to Wellness and EVO). There are low-carb varieties. Here is a google doc I have seen others post--you could check carb % and fat level of other brands against the Wellness and see if there are any that are lower in fat but still meet your needs. Seems like it wouldn't hurt to try something lower fat and see how it works.
