Low Carb & Low Phosphorous DRY Food - For Temporary Use?

I know this has been brought up a lot regarding using a low carb dry food either due to extenuating circumstances or as a temporary measure, but I couldn't find anything about a low carb AND low phosphorus option. Forgive me if it's out there and I couldn't find it.

So here's the situation. Hobbs is a OTJ diabetic and has CKD. I feed him Merrick's mixed with Royal Canin Renal (both canned). This seems to work fine. He also gets 150mL of subQ fluids 2x/week.

We are going out of town on July 5th, returning on the 7th and it looks like we won't be able to have someone look after him. I'm not sure if we can bring him with us or not. Is there ANY dry food that would work on a temporary basis that is both low carb and low phosphorous? Could I opt for a low carb option that would work and would it be OK since it's for less than 3 days? He hasn't had any digestive problems when his food has changed before. Any thoughts?
 
I don't know of a low carb dry that is also low phosphorus. Definitely steer away from any food with fish in it.

Some people have had their cats come out of remission with a higher carb food.

Since it's only for a couple of days, how about one of the low carb dry foods, even if it isn't low in phosphorus? I know, not so good for the CKD.

For the first day you are away, you could leave out enough canned food for him. Freeze portions into cat food cicles and leave out a couple of extra the first day.

Then he would only need to eat the dry maybe higher phosphorus for a 2 days.
 
Yeah having some frozen wet for the first night was part of my plan. (I normally feed him lunch that way while I'm at work) We're leaving Friday after my husband gets off work so I figured I'd feed him at his regular meal time, and then set auto feeder with some frozen wet in it to go off a little later. Then just have really only 1.5 days of the dry for him as we're coming back Sunday as soon as we can.

I checked and we can't bring him with us. The hotel allows "pets" but also says "Dogs only" well then you should say Dogs allowed not pets allowed. I didn't make the reservation.

Honestly he hates it. He won't eat the dry. The wet he only eats b/c I mix it together. And he's a SUPER easy going cat and has never been picky about food. So for him to refuse to eat something is telling. :)
 
Any "pet hotels/spas/boarding" in the area or at home?

High school or college student interested in veterinary studies who might pet sit for the experience? (Try church youth groups, Boy/Girl scout groups, etc)
 
A friend is able to help out after all.

So my plan is to feed him regular on Friday night, have my friend come by Saturday morning to feed him unfrozen food and then put some frozen food in his auto-feeder for Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

All the more reason to come home ASAP on Sunday.
