Hi, My name is Sheryl I have a diabetic cat and 3 non-diabetic cats. I am new to this site, but do know the basics as far as caring for my dc. I realize that it is best to totally take my cats off of dry food: I've been using Hills Md for about a year now. All of my cats have been eating it and are overweight. I've done a little research, and have started to try and feed all of my cats wet food: Merrick. But several of them will not eat it...not to mention it is very expensive for all my cats. Can anyone recommend a good quality, low carb dry food that i can try. They are so high in carbs! The lowest I've found is Natura Evo: it is only 7% carbs. I was very excited to try this cat food, but was told by a salesperson in the petstore that recently Natura was bought out by Proctor and Gamble( the same people who manufacter Iams and some other unhealthy dry cat food). They told me that they have discontinued buying the product because they more than likely changed the formulation and they don't need to note the change. So back to square one again... Has anyone heard of Orijen? It doesn't mention the carbs contained in it. Please help me!!!!!!

In the dry area, my cats have liked Wellness Core or Taste of the Wild best.

Both are higher in carbs than wet, of course, but are of good quality and lower in carbs than most dry.

I have also used EVO and Blue Wilderness, but not with as much success as Wellness Core or Taste of the Wild.

Please understand that there is more to cat food than just carbs. I know that we focus heavily on that issue on this board...for obvious reasons....but please see Opie's pictures on my Feline Urinary Tract Health page linked below. I am firmly opposed to feeding any dry food to cats since it wreaks havoc on their urinary tract system.

Opie's bill was $4,350 when he blocked.

'Pay me now...or pay me later' as is often the case with expensive and painful urinary tract problems.

ALL dry foods are water-depleted and cooked at very high temperatures. Please read the very first paragraph of my Urinary Tract Health page and you will see that my favorite word is "water".

And no...cats do not make up the deficit at the water bowl like so many people really want to believe.
