What do folks feed the kitties for treats? I'm looking for a new brand. Right now I'm using Friskies party mix and i'm cutting each treat in 4 or more pieces, still I'd like to find something better.

It has to be cat food like, she won't eat wet food or even real chicken or anything.

I use PureBites freeze dried chicken like quite a few people on this site.
You can pick it up at PetSmart etc but I get it from Amazon on the subscription, so it comes every month and I never run out!!

This is the dog one but its the same as for cats, just bigger bags and bigger pieces so I just break it up.

All of my cats love it - its great as a testing treat or to get them to eat (sprinkles on regular food) or even to hide medications in (although its a bit crumbly for anything that they don't like the taste of).

These are the only crispy dry food-like low carb treats that I know of: http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Only-Natural-Pet-HealthTreats-Poultry-Crispies/999310.aspx

You can also try freeze dried meat treats. Some brands are really hard and crunchy. Freeze dried raw food is also an option. It's crunchy like dry food but not quite as hard.

Here is a list of low carb treats: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9172

Those Friskies treats contain malt extract (ie sugar  ) and gluten and rice so they are not diabetic-friendly.

Actually, my Scout won't touch people food either but he gobbles up the Pure Bites chicken treats. Silly cat won't eat fresh chicken but loves the dehydrated stuff.

depending on how many treats you give, I'm not certain whether low carb is a necessity.....my cat won't touch anything low carb as far as treats go and I've since stopped worrying and give him a few naughty ones every morning.

My kitten also likes the Purebites, but he LOVES the Bravo freeze-dried chicken and the turkey training treats. IIRC, most all treats are cheaper and you get more if you buy the dog version vs. the cat. Another thing you can do is check the ingredients list and if the only ingredient is protein, then it should be fine. That being said, since you're not feeding your cat treats as an entire meal, I wouldn't worry too much about the carb content.
