Hello,
I just took my cats BG and it was 62, I immediately fed him some higher carb food and after retesting about 15-20 mins later he was at 66. I tested my meter with the control solution and it was 7 over the control range it was supposed to be. So I am also worried that the strips might be reading incorrectly. He is not showing any abnormal symptoms right now that I can tell and ate up the portion of food I gave him. I am not sure what to do and I am worried. Please help I really need guidance

How long after the bexacat was the 62?
62 is still safe but not much lower.
Bexacat is unknown territory. And there is no spreadsheet to look at (so important). (If you need help setting one up, just ask. There are people here who are spreadsheet whizs.)
The best I can offer is keeping testing and feed higher carb if under 68 and low carb if over 68.
Do discuss the low numbers with your vet. Can the pill be split?

Bexacat was administered at 10:00AM EST. Value was taken at around 9:30PM. I will work on getting the spreadsheet set up! The pill cannot be split based on what the vet told me, but about 15 mins ago I took his BG again and it was 76. I will be calling into my vet in the morning and continue to monitor his levels. I really appreciate your advice and reply in general. Thank you so much.

I’m not familiar with how Bexacat is dosed, but I concur with the need to call the vet for advice. If the 62 was a valid reading, then that’s definitely below normal on an AT3 meter, so it was good you fed.

You might want to consider getting a backup meter for just these types of circumstances. Diabetes is stressful enough without the doubt about whether your meter or strips are wonky. If you can accept that human meters will typically run a bit lower than a pet meter and wrap your head around different “normal” ranges, a low-cost backup meter might be the Relion from Walmart. Strips are inexpensive as well.

That is a great idea. I think having a backup meter would help me so much in feeling confident in these readings.
