LOW BG - Caused by Insulin or Food? Dose Reduction?

I posted this in the general forum and it was suggested I post in the Lantus also.

So yesterday my girl wasn't that interested in her normal Weruva slide n serve chicken and chicken liver dinner (46% pro, 43% fat, 7.60% carbs). So, I fed her FF Chicken feast classic pate, senior 7+ (.5% carbs), which she appears to love and I save for when she won't eat her normal food. Could the lower carbs have been the reason she dropped so low?

She has been in the 100 to 300 range for a few days until this last PM. The only thing that changed was her food.

I've been giving her .5 Lantus glargene for a while and she usually dips no lower than 100.

The food change could have been the reason but it's always difficult to say precisely what causes a drop like that. It's good that you have the Libre so you have constant data. When did you feed Sissy last night? I see you were keeping track of feedings and then stopped. I find it's really helpful to keep track so you have an idea of how she reacts to various levels of carb.

I always feed her every 2-3 hours and definitely 2 hrs before her shot. Then, I leave a large dish of wet food out overnight for her. This feeding schedule seems to have worked in the past. I know the guidelines call for a reduction of .25. I've also been concerned that her lows seems to be getting closer to the +9, +10 and +11 range - sometimes I think that happens if she starts out with high numbers. It's so confusing.

An unregulated cat's nadir can move around a lot, and very often it happens late in the cycle. Hopefully once you hit the right dose for Sissy, her numbers will flatten and she will have more predictable nadirs.
