Interesting. Sometimes he bounces and sometimes he doesn't. How does food figure in? You might give him a little snack around +3 to see if he flattens out and surfs along in lower ranges longer. Does he eat the same %carb food daily or are some days higher carb than others? (Some cats are very carb sensitive and even the difference between a 3% and 7% ups the numbers.)
I'm sure you've heard us say that cats bounce until they don't. (I think the record was a Lantus kitty who bounced for 2 years). The good news is that his numbers are in good ranges most of the time (anything under 250 is supposed to allow the pancreas to heal). I think you're doing great, adjusting the doses to fit his numbers. Surely he'll get used to the blues pretty soon and level out.
Thanks Sue. Sometimes I just need to come on here and hear you say he's doing good.
He pretty much eats the same food every day. Fancy feast turkey and giblets. Fridays are fish Friday and he gets a fish flavored kind.
Another question… Would being outside effect his blood sugar? The last two days he's been outside frolicking and eating grass in the afternoons. It's an enclosed yard with no stressors. It's the same yard he's been going out to every year when the weather is nice.
I don't think so. Maybe ants if any of those. Maybe it's just a coincidence that he's been running high on the days that he's been outside. I go back to work tomorrow so he'll be stuck inside for a few days. I'll make notations on his spreadsheet of the days he goes outside and see if there's a trend. This is the first few times he's been outside since he was diagnosed.
