Hi there again.

I was hoping to get some validation or criticism for a diet I've selected and have been feeding my newly diabetic cat.

He's a 5.6kg (ideal weight according my vet), 11 year old domestic shorthair.

I've included a screenshot of his diet breakdown and would greatly appreciate any opinions.

Are you planning to home test the blood glucose levels?

I missed this message somehow! I've attempted to measure his glucose levels at home a few times. I'm sometimes able to do a spot check, but curves are not possible at home as he's VERY suspicious of the equipment and how cooperate. I have success when he's asleep and I wake him up with some TLC and then prick his ear, but that's the only time it'll work and he immediartely resents me afterwards.

I take him to the vet at the moment for frutosamine tests every 3 weeks as he isn't yet stable.

Home testing will tell you so much more than a fructosamine test which will only tell you one number. Not if the BG has been high or low or if it’s safe to shoot.
I would persevere with home testing if I were you. Are you giving a treat every time you test or try? Here is a link to home testing.
adlo I noticed you are thinking of swapping insulins. Great idea. Also look at Lantus. That is a very good insulin for cats.

Don't forget the bribes, I mean treats. Find something that he really loves to eat, something pure meat or even bits of egg or cheese. No pancakes or corn muffins please, as those are too high in carbs for a diabetic cat to eat.
