Hello,
Midnight and non-sugar kitty (King) were eating Innova EVO Cat & Kitten but it has now been recalled twice. I was not informed by pet store of the second recall and Midnight was being treated with anti-biotics for an unknown stomach illness. At any rate, I'm not going back to that dry cat food. They have been eating only Fancy Feast Classics - chicken, beef and seafood varieties. However, they both leave food in the dish and I'm concerned about their weight. Niether have ever been over weight. Midnight is over 9 years old and King is over 14 years old so I want to go back to offering a dry cat food to ensure they have some food at their "paw tips." Could anyone make a healthy suggestion? Please email me at mlippoth@yahoo.com as I don't always think to log onto the FDMB web site.

Thank you so much,
Mary & Midnight

I feed and leave out canned food between shots. There's no need to leave out dry, which doesn't have enough water in it.

If I leave the canned out then I just come home to crusty food

I rotate between about 10 different brands, use many different flavors and use every possible topping that has ever been suggested on this forum but they still would rather dry food most of the time. Even my brand new kittens. I didn't even offer dry food at first so it didn't have anything to do with them knowing it existed.

So because Evo is out I now use Nature's Variety chicken dry food. It's low carb and they like it. I try my best to give them the canned but I would like them to live so I also give them dry.

Add about 1 tablespoon of water to each ounce, ounce and a half of wet food. Stir and mix til about applesauce consistency. Prevents the canned food from drying out as much..

I add water to all my cats' food, however, they still will not eat it several hours later, no matter whether it is wet or dryish, whether I flip it over/mix it up, add things (fortiflora, etc.) it seems it has a very short shelf life for interest in my house. If I try to mix the older food with the new can I'm opening, then the new can doesn't get eaten except gravy bits around the edges, lol.

That is why I started buying the YA, I can't stand the idea of them being hungry when I have to be away, and yea, that is their choice vs. eating 'old' canned food, they'd rather get sick from hunger than eat it. (probably because they know I won't let them starve!) Argh! But yea, the YA helps a lot, I just give them each a small portion of the wet as often as I can, and they have something they can tolerate until I can. I'd really like to switch to raw but I'm scared it will turn out to be even more expensive than the FF :YMSIGH:
