We might need a cat sitter service for Sammie for a few days. He takes prednisolone twice a day for a brain tumor. He is somewhat stable now. We are conflicted whether or not we should leave him if he has cancer but it will only be a few days. He's eating/drinking/doing much like he did before the diagnosis on his own.

We're not sure what to do, so I'm just looking for suggestions if we decide to use a sitter. Although right now, we're leaning more towards no.

I'm in CT so I can't help, but was wondering how he's doing on the Prednisolone? It really helped Tucker(GA)'s quality of life after he was dx with the brain tumor. I hope your little man is doing well.

have you talked to the vet techs at your vet office? they may be willing to come over and take care of sammy. We do have ny members who may have ideas. I don't know who does pet sitting in ny - now if you needed a vet.....although that could be an option. and they are open every day, so someone will be there to take care of him - assuming you are open to a boarding situation and that they will board cats. This place was recommended by someone else on the board.

We live in Brooklyn, I'm not sure if we'll be able to find a place closer than the city. I will call the vet but I'm not fan the office anymore. The doctor we liked left and the Dr. there now is pretty terrible. I'm not sure if I should call them up for a referral at this point.

Sammie is doing much better. He's a lot less confused and walking in circles less. But he hasn't regained vision in his left eye or strength on his left side. I still feel guilty for even thinking of leaving him with someone when he's sick. I'm so scared he'll pass or something will go wrong although he is very stable right now.

I live in Calif. so no help for the sitter but I can talk about the guilt/worry. 90% of the things we worry about never happen, of course the stuff you don't worry about! wow! moving on .... my Mom used to say a lot about life moving on, and it needs to. If our kitties could talk, don't you know they would just want us to live our lives. Sammie is lucky to have you, just love him and do the best you can, in the end it's all about the love :)

What dose of prednisolone are you on? When Tucker(GA) lost his vision for a short time we gave him a steroid blast, as my vet called it, he got 10mg BID, once he regained his vision we went back down to 5mg BID.

I didn't leave much when Tucker was near the end. Even when adopting Kiki, someone else picked her up for me on the drive so I could stay home with him. I completely understand not wanting to go away.
