We are new to having the responsibility of a diabetic cat. We caught the disease very early, and while she currently only needs one unit/twice daily, we are struggling with the enormity of it all.

We used to live a very free lifestyle, going away on weekends etc. Now we find ourselves lost. We don't want to impose on those friends who used to come to feed/scoop to now give insulin shots, nor do we want to board her (being in a cage for 2 days just seems so cruel).

Does anyone know of someone in the Longbranch area of Toronto who can help us out? Particularly over the holiday season? (not Christmas or Boxing days).

Thanks!!!

I live a long way away (Colorado) but wondered if you had tried the vet techs at your vet office. They often don't get paid very much and would like a pet sitting gig. They have experience giving shots and can definitely be trained to test, if they don't already know how. There are also some pet sitting services who specialize in "sick" animals who need shots/ medication etc. i have one in my area.

Have started calling the vets in my neighbourhood - so far no luck. Will keep trying! And thanks for the advice.

If you do a Google search for "pet sitters in Toronto" you might find someone you're comfortable with training to care for your sugarcat
